About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Design Engineer (PE) to support the planning, design, and execution of utility and infrastructure projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex engineering initiatives while collaborating with clients, field personnel, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

The ideal candidate will have experience with utility distribution systems, strong technical and analytical skills, and a passion for solving engineering challenges in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and support overhead and underground utility distribution systems.

  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical designs, drawings, and project documentation.

  • Perform system analyses including load studies, voltage calculations, short circuit analysis, and protection coordination.

  • Support infrastructure upgrades, reliability improvements, and capacity planning initiatives.

  • Interpret and apply engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, field personnel, municipalities, and internal project teams.

  • Review engineering deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.

  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution activities.

  • Support field investigations, site visits, and data collection efforts as required.

  • Contribute to process improvements, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders throughout all phases of project execution.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in utility, power delivery, infrastructure, consulting, or related industries.

  • Experience designing overhead and/or underground utility systems.

  • Familiarity with utility standards, engineering drawings, specifications, and construction practices.

  • Experience using power system modeling and analysis software.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical design skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience working directly with clients and cross-functional project teams preferred.


Preferred Experience

  • Utility distribution planning and system improvement projects.

  • Renewable energy, distributed energy resources (DER), or grid modernization initiatives.

  • GIS, mapping, and utility asset management systems.

  • Infrastructure design, construction support, and field engineering.

  • Project management and client-facing consulting experience.

Key Details

  • Compensation: $100,000-130,000 annually dependent on on years of experience and professional licensing

  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) are offered.

  • This role offers a flexible (remote) work arrangement after onboarding, with occasional travel to project sites and office locations as needed (average 1-2 days a month)
