LaSalle Network is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit religious organization to identify a Senior Accountant. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the organization's financial stewardship, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting leadership with financial insights that help advance the organization's mission.
This position is ideal for an accounting professional who values purpose-driven work and enjoys operating in a collaborative environment. The Senior Accountant will oversee key accounting functions, contribute to financial planning efforts, and help ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Senior Accountant Responsibilities

Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting principles and organizational policies.

Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analyses for leadership and board reporting.

Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.

Monitor and reconcile cash accounts, investments, and restricted funds.

Track and account for grants, donations, endowments, and designated gifts in accordance with donor restrictions.

Analyze revenue and expense trends and provide recommendations to leadership.

Coordinate annual audits and serve as a primary liaison with external auditors.

Support preparation of IRS Form 990 and other compliance-related filings.

Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.

Assist departments with budget monitoring and financial reporting needs.

Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on accounting procedures and financial reporting.

Participate in special projects and strategic financial initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

CPA designation preferred.

5+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Prior experience within a nonprofit organization, religious institution, educational institution, or mission-based organization strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting.

Experience with financial statement preparation, month-end close, and account reconciliations.

Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting requirements.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Experience with nonprofit accounting systems and ERP platforms preferred.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, accountability, and service.
