Field Engineering Technician
LaSalle Network is hiring for a Field Engineering Technician to support our client’s engineering team with utility pole inspections and field data collection across Chicagoland, based out of Wheaton, IL. This is a contract role for someone who enjoys being in the field, working independently, and staying on the move throughout the day. Our client is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented technician who can accurately capture and report observations using a handheld device while traveling site-to-site. This Field Engineering Technician opportunity offers hands-on, entry-level exposure to utility infrastructure work with overtime available based on workload.
No prior experience is needed! Training and safety equipment is provided.
Responsibilities

Travel pole-to-pole throughout Chicagoland to visually inspect utility poles and complete field assessments

Capture and document required pole information (e.g., pole number, GPS/GIS coordinates, attachments, and general condition) using a handheld device

Verify expected pole configurations by physically confirming field conditions and reporting accurate “ground truth” data

Communicate daily regarding territory/assignments and follow direction for assigned starting locations

Complete ride-along training and progressively ramp up productivity while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Qualifications

Demonstrated reliability and ability to commit through the completion of a 60–90 day project

Valid driver’s license, acceptable motor vehicle record, active auto insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle (required)

Comfort driving throughout the workday and repeatedly getting in/out of a vehicle in a driving-heavy role

Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document field observations

Ability to work a 7:00 AM–4:00 PM schedule with overtime available based on workload
