In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the company's adherence to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) regulations. You will work closely with various departments to assess internal controls, identify and address control deficiencies, and maintain accurate and complete SOX documentation.
SOX Compliance Consultant Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify and prioritize key control areas
- Design and perform testing procedures to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting
- Document control procedures, testing methodologies and test results
- Assist with remediation efforts to address identified control deficiencies
- Stay up-to-date on the latest SOX regulations and industry best practices
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including management, auditors and the audit committee
- Utilize SOX compliance software tools (familiarity with specific tools a plus)
SOX Compliance Consultant Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in SOX compliance or internal controls
- Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and testing internal controls
- Strong understanding of SOX Section 404 requirements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in a public accounting firm or a similar environment is a plus
