LaSalle Network is hiring for a Human Resources Director with a leading healthcare organization known for its exceptional reputation, stability, and mission-driven culture.

The organization is known for its stable, warm culture and longstanding leadership. We are looking for someone who can step in confidently and independently. This position requires a proven track record in healthcare or senior living HR. Live and work in Chicago’s vibrant Southwest Side, supporting a community that values stability and exceptional care.

The position offers an opportunity to lead a dedicated team and make a meaningful impact in a well-respected, 5-star continuing care retirement community on Chicago's Southwest Side.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full HR operations, including compliance, onboarding, benefits, compensation, retention, talent acquisition, labor relations, and payroll coordination (Kronos).

  • Interpret and apply Illinois state and city employment laws and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) guidelines to ensure ongoing compliance and successful inspections.

  • Support and develop the HR Generalist team, providing guidance and mentorship.

  • Partner with leadership on HR strategies, including budgeting, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives.

  • Maintain and enhance the organization's high retention metrics and positive culture.

  • Participate in quarterly third-shift visits to support floor visibility and staff engagement.

  • Oversee new hire orientation and contribute to staff communication efforts, including newsletters.

  • Conduct market analysis on benefits and compensation to support competitive offerings.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibilities.

  • Strong knowledge of Illinois employment law, IDPH regulations, and healthcare compliance requirements.

  • Broad HR generalist expertise across employee relations, benefits, compensation, onboarding, and labor relations.

  • Hands-on experience with Kronos or Workday.

  • High level of independence, decisiveness, and operational execution.

  • Proven tenure of at least 2 years per role; short stints are a red flag.

  • Strong floor presence and ability to work directly with staff and leadership.

  • Soft skills: excellent communication, strategic thinking, and adaptability.

  • Preferred: experience in senior living, skilled nursing, or healthcare

  • Compensation: $48.00–$53.00/hour
