BLS Update – April Employment Trends

As we dial into the April BLS jobs report, we’re looking at key takeaways and what they mean for businesses and job seekers.

175,000 Jobs Added 

In April, the BLS jobs report revealed a modest increase in job gains with main gains in health care, social assistance and transportation and warehousing.   

3.9% Unemployment Rate 

The unemployment rate edged up slightly from 3.8% to 3.9%, still remaining below 4% for 26 consecutive months. This marks the longest continuous period since the late 1960s.  

62.7% Labor Force Participation Rate 

The labor force participation rate remained unchanged over last month, coming in at 62.7%. A good sign for hiring companies with more talent entering the jobs market.
