LaSalle Network is partnering with a publicly traded organization to identify a Staff Accountant for its corporate accounting team in downtown Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career CPA who is looking to gain exposure to financial reporting, fixed assets, month-end close, and SEC reporting support within a stable and growing organization.
This hybrid position offers visibility across the accounting function and the opportunity to work directly with senior leadership while contributing to key financial processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to develop professionally in a collaborative environment.

Staff Accountant Responsibilities

Perform daily cash reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.

Maintain fixed asset records and ensure accurate accounting within both the general ledger and fixed asset subledger systems.

Administer the Capital Expenditure Request (CER) process, including tracking approvals, establishing projects, monitoring progress, and closing completed projects.

Record fixed asset acquisitions, transfers, and disposals while maintaining accurate asset schedules.

Calculate and record monthly depreciation expenses and maintain related supporting documentation.

Prepare journal entries and support month-end close activities in partnership with corporate and plant accounting teams.

Review and post accounts payable batches, ensuring accurate coding, banking information, and accounting periods.

Provide backup support for accounts payable functions as needed.

Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and general ledger account analyses.

Assist with supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation related to SEC reporting requirements.

Maintain oversight of petty cash activity and ensure proper controls and documentation are in place.

Support audit, tax, and budgeting activities by preparing fixed asset schedules and related analyses.

Assist with year-end audit requests, including preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor inquiries.

Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.
Staff Accountant Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.

Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.

CPA required
-
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Experience with fixed assets, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.

Experience supporting audits and preparing accounting schedules preferred.

Familiarity with OneStream, JD Edwards (JDE), or similar ERP systems is a plus.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.
