LaSalle Network has partnered with a leading healthcare provider in their search for a Neurosurgery Coder. As a Neurosurgery Coder, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and compliant coding of neurosurgical procedures and services. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of recent experience in neurosurgery facility and professional fee coding. AHIMA credentials such as RHIT, RHIA or CCS are preferred. Neurosurgery Coder Responsibilities:
- Assign accurate CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS codes for neurosurgery procedures performed in both facility and professional fee settings
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure coding compliance with regulatory guidelines and payer requirements
- Work closely with neurosurgeons, clinical staff and billing teams to clarify documentation and resolve coding-related issues
- Stay informed about updates and changes to coding guidelines, regulations and reimbursement policies related to neurosurgery coding
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize coding accuracy, revenue integrity and compliance
- Participate in coding audits, compliance reviews and quality improvement initiatives as needed
- Maintain productivity and quality standards while adhering to established coding protocols and deadlines
Neurosurgery Coder Requirements:
- AHIMA credentials preferred: RHIT, RHIA or CCS
- 4+ years of recent experience in neurosurgery facility and professional fee coding
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding systems and guidelines
- Familiarity with neurosurgical procedures, terminology and documentation requirements
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting patient health information
