LaSalle Network is hiring for a Controller with a well-established nonprofit organization serving communities throughout the Chicagoland area. This Controller opportunity offers the chance to play a critical leadership role in financial stewardship, compliance, and organizational transparency while supporting programs that create meaningful impact across the communities the organization serves.


The ideal Controller will bring strong expertise in nonprofit accounting, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for supporting a mission-driven organization. This role serves as a key partner to executive leadership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and sound financial operations while helping the organization fulfill its mission.


What's the job?

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes

  • Oversee general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations

  • Manage nonprofit fund accounting and chart of accounts structure

  • Prepare financial statements, including Statements of Activities, Financial Position, and Cash Flows

  • Develop executive, board, and audit reporting packages

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, grant requirements, and nonprofit accounting standards

  • Serve as primary liaison for annual external audits

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions

  • Manage cash flow forecasting and banking relationships

  • Monitor restricted and unrestricted funding sources

  • Strengthen internal controls and improve financial processes

  • Support leadership with financial analysis and recommendations

  • Maintain audit readiness throughout the year


What's needed?

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit fund accounting

  • Experience with Form 990 reporting, audits, and regulatory compliance

  • Proven accounting or finance leadership experience

  • Experience with ERP and accounting systems

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Strong process improvement and internal control experience

  • Nonprofit and grant-funded accounting experience strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated success in leading audits and maintaining compliance

  • Compensation: $90,000-$110,000
