Our client is seeking an AVP, Maintenance Operations and Transformation to lead their enterprise-wide maintenance organization and drive service delivery, financial performance, client value, and operational transformation. This is a high-impact executive leadership role responsible for overseeing a large, distributed organization while evaluating and evolving maintenance programs, processes, technology, and service models.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, collaborative operations leader who can assess complex service organizations, identify opportunities for improvement, and lead meaningful transformation while maintaining strong relationships with clients, employees, and cross-functional partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the enterprise Maintenance Services organization, overseeing approximately 230 employees through a team of senior leaders.
  • Provide strategic leadership across maintenance, specialized truck and equipment services, service assurance, customer and driver service, and maintenance program administration.
  • Evaluate and evolve maintenance programs and operating models to improve service levels, efficiency, responsiveness, and client outcomes.
  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize processes, workflows, systems, technology, analytics, automation, and operational infrastructure.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, service standards, financial performance, and operational goals across multiple functions and locations.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Procurement, Finance, Product, IT, Account Management, and Commercial teams to drive enterprise-wide results.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with major clients, serving as a senior point of contact for service performance, escalations, and maintenance strategy.
  • Lead vendor and partner performance to ensure service quality, cost effectiveness, and operational reliability.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and determine when incremental improvements or broader transformation are required.
  • Champion organizational change while respecting institutional knowledge and building trust across a long-tenured organization.
  • Communicate maintenance strategy, performance, and transformation initiatives to senior leadership and external stakeholders.

Requirements:
  • 15+ years of progressive operations and leadership experience, including experience managing senior leaders and large, complex organizations.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale service operations, maintenance programs, asset management, fleet operations, or a related environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading meaningful transformation, process improvement, operational excellence, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to effectively communicate and influence senior executives, clients, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of data, analytics, KPIs, process improvement, systems, and technology as tools for improving operational performance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions and influence stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience or knowledge preferred.
  • Direct fleet maintenance experience is preferred but not required; candidates from automotive, manufacturing, industrial, asset-intensive, or other sophisticated service environments will be considered.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Schaumburg, Illinois, with a hybrid schedule and approximately 25% travel.

Compensation: $185,000-$245,000 annually + eligibility to earn discretionary bonus
