142,000 Jobs Added
In August, the U.S. economy’s employment growth was in line with recent averages but below the average monthly gain of 202,000 over the prior 12 months. Job gains occurred in construction and health care.
4.2% Unemployment Rate
The unemployment rate edged up slightly from 4.1% to 4.2%.
62.7% Labor Force Participation Rate
The labor force participation rate remained at 62.7% in August and has changed slightly over the year.
