Dispatcher
Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite)Employment Type: Direct-Hire
Compensation: $60,000-$75,000 annually, based on experience
A well-established building materials company is seeking an experienced Dispatcher to oversee daily scheduling, routing, and logistics operations for its delivery fleet. This is a highly visible, hands-on role that reports directly to the CEO and is ideal for a professional who excels in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage a fleet of drivers, including flatbed, dump truck, and concrete truck deliveries.
- Schedule both pre-planned deliveries and accommodate real-time adjustments based on customer and operational needs.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding delivery status, timing, and service updates.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records, delivery logs, and scheduling documentation.
- Assist with the implementation and adoption of a new ERP/dispatch platform featuring geofencing, real-time tracking, status updates, and electronic signature capabilities.
Qualifications
- 6-10 years of dispatching experience required.
- Experience in related industries such as building materials, plumbing supply, roofing supply, retail distribution, home improvement, or similar environments is highly preferred. Construction industry experience is not required.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations is a plus.
- Previous driving experience is a plus.
- Proven leadership and team management skills with experience overseeing drivers or transportation personnel.
- Comfortable learning and adapting to new technology, systems, and processes.
Schedule
- Core hours are approximately 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility.
- During the busy season (April through November), availability for two Saturdays per month from 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM is required.
