LaSalle Network is partnering with our client to hire a Leaves Specialist to support a fast-paced HR function in Naperville, IL. Our client is looking for someone who can step in quickly as the point person for leave of absence administration, applying strong FMLA/ADA and multi-state leave knowledge while keeping cases moving accurately and compliantly.
This Leaves Specialist opportunity offers a collaborative environment with strong cross-functional partnership across HR, payroll, and benefits, plus the chance to improve leave processes and the employee experience.
Responsibilities

Serve as the primary point of contact and internal subject matter expert for leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave, short-term disability, and company leave policies.

Manage the leave lifecycle from intake through return-to-work

Coordinate and document the ADA interactive process, including tracking requests, proposed accommodations, timelines, and outcomes.

Partner with the third-party leave administrator to manage escalations, reconcile case decisions against policy/law, and address process or performance issues.

Coordinate leave status and pay/benefit impacts with payroll and benefits, including reconciliation of pay continuation and benefit continuation requirements.

Build and maintain leave tracking reports in the HRIS and supplemental tools, and provide reporting to HR leadership.

Identify trends and compliance risks, lead process improvement initiatives, and support policy updates as leave laws and business needs evolve.

Educate employees and managers throughout leave administration with clear, empathetic communication and guidance on responsibilities and best practices.
Qualifications

4–6 years of progressive HR experience with at least 3 years focused on leave administration in a multi-state environment.

In-depth knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and state leave laws across multiple jurisdictions, with the ability to apply requirements to complex scenarios.

Experience partnering with a third-party leave administrator and evaluating/escalating case handling as needed.

Working knowledge of leave and payroll integration, including pay continuation, benefit deductions, and reconciliation.

Proficiency with HRIS platforms; experience with UKG Pro is strongly preferred.

Strong analytical and reporting skills, including building reports, auditing data, and communicating findings to HR and business leaders.

Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently with strong judgment and appropriate escalation.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
