Chicago, IL, May, 18, 2009 – Tom Gimbel, Founder and CEO of Chicago-based staffing and recruiting firm, LaSalle Network, will be speaking to Notre Dame alumni at the Notre Dame Alumni Club of Chicago’s Career Forum this Wednesday, May 13, 2009.
Gimbel will discuss how to find a job in this economy, including resume, interviewing and salary negotiation tips, as well as the biggest mistakes job seekers make during a recession.
“It’s important to diversify your job search in a market like this. Job seekers need to utilize as many tools as possible, not just job boards and company websites, but their professional and personal network,” Gimbel says. In Wednesday’s Career Forum, Gimbel will elaborate on mistakes to avoid during your job search, how to leverage your resume to secure an interview and how to handle the dreaded salary question in this saturated market. “Companies are still hiring, they are just being more specific about qualifications, experience and salary expectations. Tailoring your resume to highlight specific accomplishments that match the employer’s goals and reducing your salary expectations can make all the difference when competing for a job with hundreds of other applicants,” Gimbel states.
Held at the Santa Fe Building, 224 S. Michigan Avenue, across from the Art Institute on the second floor, doors open at 5:15 P.M., open networking and refreshments from 5:15 to 5:45, and speakers begin promptly at 5:45.
