Utilities Engineering Expert
LaSalle Network is hiring for a Utilities Engineering Expert to support our client in Bellwood, IL in a highly collaborative manufacturing environment. This Utilities Engineering Expert opportunity is especially exciting because you’ll help build and scale utility systems for a major new, “best in class” facility—shaping infrastructure, reliability and long-term sustainability from the ground up. The Utilities Engineering Expert will partner cross-functionally to drive capital projects, solve real-time operational challenges and improve performance across critical plant utilities. This is a direct hire role with a hybrid work model and meaningful ownership/impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design review, equipment selection and contractor coordination for mechanical utility systems (e.g., refrigeration, boilers/steam, compressed air, chilled water, HVAC and wastewater treatment)

  • Develop maintenance strategies, SOPs and monitoring systems to ensure utilities are safe, compliant and continuously available

  • Manage utility and wastewater system startup/commissioning and transition to full-scale production operations

  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, EHS and Facilities to ensure utilities meet business needs and regulatory requirements

  • Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximize uptime, efficiency and cost-effectiveness

  • Drive energy efficiency, water conservation and waste reduction initiatives aligned to sustainability goals


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering (Master’s preferred)

  • 10+ years of utilities engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (FMCG/food & beverage/CPG experience noted as preferred in the order)

  • Hands-on experience with large-scale refrigeration systems and mechanical utilities in high-volume production environments

  • Proven expertise with wastewater treatment system design, operation and compliance

  • Strong project management experience delivering complex infrastructure/capital projects on time and within budget

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical details into actionable insights and influence cross-functional stakeholders
