Position Overview:
The Superintendent is responsible for leading all onsite construction activities from project kickoff through completion. This role oversees field operations, subcontractors, safety, scheduling, quality, and coordination to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to company and client standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on construction leader with strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage fast-paced commercial or industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate daily onsite construction activities, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure safe and efficient project execution.

  • Manage project schedules, manpower planning, and workflow sequencing to maintain productivity and meet milestones.

  • Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and project documentation.

  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and material deliveries to support project timelines and minimize delays.

  • Monitor field progress to ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, building codes, and contract requirements.

  • Conduct daily site walks, safety meetings, inspections, and progress reporting.

  • Partner with project management teams to address field issues, resolve conflicts, and drive project completion.

  • Track production, maintain accurate daily logs, and communicate project updates to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Oversee punch list completion, final inspections, and project closeout activities.

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture while maintaining OSHA compliance and site cleanliness.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to construction processes, scheduling, and field productivity.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and project teams.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

  • 5+ years of superintendent, field leadership, or construction management experience within commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or design-build environments.

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, safety standards, and field operations.

  • Experience managing subcontractors, project schedules, and multiple trades simultaneously.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.

  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Experience leading projects from groundbreaking through closeout.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Ability to manage fast-paced projects while balancing quality, budget, and schedule expectations.

  • Experience with scheduling tools, daily reporting, and field documentation processes preferred.

  • Ability to travel to project sites in the Chicago land area as needed.

  • Compensation: $110,000 to $140,000 annually
