As the Internal Audit Consultant, you will be working directly with the CFO and accounting team to ensure that the company follows proper accounting procedures and complies with regulations. This position is hybrid, at their office in the South Loop area of Chicago.
Internal Audit Consultant Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk-based internal audits across various business functions, including financial reporting, operations and technology
- Develop and execute comprehensive audit plans, including defining scope, methodology and testing procedures
- Perform detailed testing of internal controls, identify potential control weaknesses and assess associated risks
- Analyze data, identify trends and prepare insightful reports with clear and concise recommendations for improvement
- Collaborate with management to effectively communicate audit findings and recommendations, and work collaboratively to implement corrective actions
- Stay current on relevant accounting principles, auditing standards and emerging Fin-Tech industry trends
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the internal audit function by identifying and implementing new approaches and methodologies
Internal Audit Consultant Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in internal auditing, preferably within the Fin-Tech industry, or within Professional Services
- Strong understanding of internal control frameworks, including COSO
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Proficient in Excel and any audit software (e.g., ACL)
