Energy & Facilities Manager
Compensation: $125,000 to $135,000 base, eligibility to earn discretionary bonus

Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Energy & Facilities Manager to lead site-wide energy management, utilities operations, and facilities services within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving energy efficiency initiatives, reducing operating costs, supporting sustainability objectives, and ensuring the reliable operation of critical utility and facility systems.
The Energy & Facilities Manager will oversee utilities including electricity, water, compressed air, HVAC, and waste management while developing and implementing strategies to improve energy performance, reduce environmental impact, and maintain compliance with regulatory and company standards. This position partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Leadership teams to support production objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Energy Management & Sustainability

Develop and execute site energy management strategies aligned with corporate sustainability and cost-reduction objectives.

Create and manage multi-year energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction plans.

Monitor and analyze site energy consumption data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

Lead energy efficiency projects from concept through implementation, ensuring achievement of performance, budget, and timeline objectives.

Evaluate and implement energy-saving technologies, renewable energy opportunities, and low-carbon initiatives.

Establish and maintain energy management processes and systems, including support for ISO 50001 or similar frameworks.

Track and report energy performance metrics, sustainability initiatives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Utilities & Facilities Management

Oversee the operation, maintenance, and reliability of utilities systems including:

Electrical distribution

Water systems

HVAC systems

Compressed air systems

Waste and environmental services

Manage facility services including building maintenance, security, cleaning, and contractor services.

Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for utilities and facility infrastructure.

Ensure facility systems operate efficiently and reliably to support production requirements.

Support capital projects involving facility expansions, utility upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, energy, safety, and facility regulations.

Lead energy, environmental, and utility-related audits and inspections.

Maintain required documentation, permits, and reporting associated with utility operations and sustainability initiatives.

Identify and mitigate risks related to utilities, facilities, and energy systems.
Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization

Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, utility reliability, and operational efficiency.

Drive cost-saving initiatives related to energy consumption, utilities management, and facility operations.

Utilize data analysis and performance metrics to support operational decision-making.

Benchmark facility performance and implement industry best practices.
Leadership & Collaboration

Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Corporate teams to align energy and facility strategies with business objectives.

Manage relationships with utility providers, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.

Lead cross-functional initiatives focused on sustainability, energy reduction, and operational excellence.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and energy awareness throughout the organization.
Qualifications
Required
-
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
-
5+ years of experience in energy management, facilities management, utilities engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.

Strong understanding of industrial utility systems, including HVAC, electrical systems, compressed air, water treatment, and energy infrastructure.

Experience leading energy reduction, sustainability, or operational efficiency initiatives.

Knowledge of environmental and energy regulations applicable to manufacturing operations.

Strong project management experience with demonstrated success delivering measurable results.

Experience managing contractors, budgets, and capital improvement projects.

Proficiency with CMMS and maintenance management systems.
Preferred
-
Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline.

Experience within food manufacturing, consumer products, chemical processing, or other energy-intensive industries.

Knowledge of ISO 50001, energy management systems, and sustainability reporting.

Experience developing greenhouse gas reduction strategies and supporting corporate sustainability goals.

Familiarity with renewable energy technologies and low-carbon solutions.
