As they continue to expand their global presence, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Revenue Accounting to join their accounting team and play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate revenue reporting and compliance with accounting standards. 

As the Director of Revenue Accounting, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of revenue recognition within the organization. You will lead a team of professionals and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that revenue is recognized in accordance with GAAP and company policies. This role requires a deep understanding of revenue recognition principles, strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex accounting issues in a fast-paced software environment. 

Director of Revenue Accounting Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement revenue recognition policies and procedures in compliance with ASC 606 standards 
  • Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams on revenue recognition matters, including sales, finance, legal and operations 
  • Review and analyze customer contracts, agreements and sales arrangements to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment 
  • Lead revenue forecasting and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Collaborate with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits related to revenue recognition 
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations related to revenue recognition, and assess the impact on the company 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in revenue recognition 
  • Train and mentor team members on revenue recognition principles and best practices 

Director of Revenue Accounting Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA certification preferred 
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in revenue recognition, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a SaaS environment 
  • In-depth knowledge of ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards related to revenue recognition 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex contracts and transactions 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams 
  • Experience leading and developing a team of finance professionals 
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, ideally NetSuite
