Are you an experienced financial leader looking for an exciting Controllership opportunity in the medical supply manufacturing industry? Our client’s firm in Vernon Hills is seeking a Controller to join their team as the current controller prepares for retirement. As the Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing their financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and driving strategic financial decisions.

This client is looking for active controllers that can step in and support the President, COO and current accounting department.This role will get up to $175,000 for a base salary for candidates that check every box in manufacturing, inventory, cost accounting and people management skills. This position offers the flexibility of working in-office two days a week.

Controller Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and internal checks and balances
  • Take ownership of the general ledger, including monthly financial close, reconciliations and preparation of financial reports
  • Coordinate all audit activities with external accountants
  • Interface with commercial insurance brokers on annual insurance renewals and oversee administration of insurance policies
  • Partner with HR on payroll, benefits administration and renewals
  • Analyze financial data and present accurate and timely financial reports to senior management
  • Prepare budgets by collecting, analyzing and consolidating financial data and recommending plans

Controller Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience in effectively communicating key data to senior management and/or outside partners
  • 7+ years of relevant financial and operational experience
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft NAV and knowledge of COGNOS is a plus
  • Previous experience in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel (Macros, V-lookups, Pivot Tables) and PowerPoint
  • Ability to innovate and improve reporting processes
