The ideal candidate has a proven track record of successful project management within the IT infrastructure domain, with a focus on network architecture, server deployments, cloud technologies and data center relocations. This is a hybrid onsite position located in downtown Chicago, offering the opportunity to collaborate with both remote and onsite teams.
Infrastructure Project Manager Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end project management efforts, including project planning, execution, monitoring and closure
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business goals
- Provide strong leadership to cross-functional teams, driving collaboration, communication and accountability
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of network architecture, server technologies, cloud platforms and data center migration strategies
- Utilize your technical background to make informed decisions, troubleshoot issues, and provide guidance to project teams
- Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines and resource allocations to ensure successful project delivery
- Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or roadblocks; develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track
- Foster clear communication channels between stakeholders, team members, and management, ensuring everyone is informed of project status and changes
- Provide regular status updates, progress reports and executive summaries to keep stakeholders well-informed
- Implement quality control measures to ensure that infrastructure solutions meet or exceed established standards and requirements
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of network configurations, server setups, cloud deployments and data center migrations
- Engage with external vendors and partners to procure necessary hardware, software and services, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project specifications
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, technical specifications, risk assessments and post-project evaluations
Infrastructure Project Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field; master's preferred
- 5+ years of experience in successfully managing complex infrastructure projects, particularly focused on networks, servers, cloud solutions and data center migrations
- Strong technical background in IT infrastructure, including familiarity with network protocols, server hardware, virtualization technologies, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) and data center operations
- Project management certification (PMP, Prince2, etc.) is a plus
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proficiency in project management tools and software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality results
- Ability to work onsite in downtown Chicago while also accommodating remote collaboration as needed
This Infrastructure Project Manager position is an open-ended contract with the potential for both extension or conversions. This role is onsite 1-3x/week in downtown Chicago.
