BLS Update – May Employment Trends

As we dial into the May BLS jobs report, we’re looking at key takeaways and what they mean for businesses and job seekers.

272,000 Jobs Added 

In May, the BLS jobs report revealed a modest increase in job gains with main gains concentrated in health care, government, and leisure and hospitality.

4.0% Unemployment Rate 

The unemployment rate edged up slightly from 3.9% to 4.0%, the first time it has breached that level since January 2022.

62.5% Labor Force Participation Rate 

The labor force participation rate decreased slightly from 62.7% to 62.5%.
