Designer & Drafter (Engineering Design)

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Designer & Drafter with a strong engineering foundation to support the design, detailing, and approval of highly customizable mechanical parts and assemblies. This role requires hands-on CAD expertise, a deep understanding of engineering principles, and the ability to provide final design approval prior to release for manufacturing.
The ideal candidate thrives in a custom-design environment, works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and customers, and is comfortable owning designs from concept through final sign-off.
Key Responsibilities

Design and draft custom and configurable parts and assemblies based on customer requirements and engineering inputs

Create and maintain detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software

Apply engineering principles to ensure designs meet functional, safety, and manufacturing requirements

Review, validate, and approve final designs for release, serving as the technical authority for assigned projects

Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and sales teams to resolve design challenges

Incorporate GD&T, tolerances, materials, and finishes appropriate for production

Support prototype development, design revisions, and continuous improvement initiatives

Ensure compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and internal design controls

Maintain accurate documentation, revision history, and BOMs
Required Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field

5+ years of experience in design and drafting, preferably in a highly customizable or engineered-to-order environment

Strong working knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals

Proven experience designing parts that vary by configuration, size, material, or application

Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar)

Ability to review and provide final engineering approval on drawings and models

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability

Excellent attention to detail and documentation discipline
Compensation- up to $31/hr and eligible for Health, Dental and Vision Coverage
