Staffing, Recruiting, Culture Firm Publishes Report Based On Survey of More Than 3,000 2019 College Graduates

CHICAGO – LaSalle Network, a national staffing, recruiting and culture firm, publishes its fourth-annual report on what the upcoming graduating class wants in a job and company.

The report, “What the Class of 2019 Wants,” highlights original data collected from a survey of more than 3,000 2019 graduates conducted in February 2019. Below is a summary of the survey findings:

Top Three Factors Gen Z is Seeking in a Role:

No. 1: Opportunity for growth (consistent top response from 2016 – 2019); note: 76 percent of respondents expect to earn a promotion one to two years after they start

No. 2: Work-life balance (compensation was No. 2 factor in 2018 report)

No. 3: Compensation (team culture was No. 3 factor in 2018 report)

Top Three Factors Gen Z is Seeking in a Company:

No. 1: Company culture

No. 2: Benefits

No. 3: Location

Job Search Sources:

Career fairs is the top job search resource for this graduating class, followed by networking and job boards. Last year, networking was the top resource

Salary Expectations:

On average, respondents expect to earn $51,000 – $60,000 in their first job out of college

Of the 24 percent of graduates who have already accepted employment prior to graduation, 11 percent will earn less than expected, 44 percent will earn more than expected  and 45 percent will earn the same as expected

Job Search Timeline:

76 percent of respondents haven’t yet accepted a role and majority began their job search six to nine months prior to graduation

Of the 24 percent who already secured a position prior to graduation, 65 percent received two to four job offers in 2019
