LaSalle Network Publishes ‘2022 Hiring Trends & Challenges’ Report 

National Staffing, Recruiting, Culture Firm’s Latest Report Includes Data Collected from 250+ Business Executives on Current, Future Hiring Trends, Challenges  

CHICAGO – LaSalle Network, a national staffing, recruiting and culture firm, publishes its newest report, “2022 Hiring Trends & Challenges,” which includes original data collected from more than 250 Human Resources, Operations and Finance leaders on current hiring challenges and future hiring trends anticipated for 2022.

A highlight of the findings include:

Top three areas that were most successful in organizations’ recruiting strategies in 2021:     

  • Job boards (including Indeed, CareerBuilder, LinkedIn, among others)    
  • Networking/referrals    
  • Third party recruiters    

Top hiring challenges companies faced in 2021:      

  • Meeting compensation requirements    
  • Candidate fall-off or ‘ghosting” during the interview process    
  • Unskilled candidates / skills gap    
  • Candidates turning down offers     

Of those who responded with “candidates turning down offers,” when asked what has been the primary reason for turndowns, majority stated candidates accepted other offers for greater pay/benefits. Following closely was candidates not wanting to commute/come into an office.    

Hiring:    

  • 73 percent of respondents stated their companies are projected to add headcount in North America in 2022, and majority stated by 5-9 percent   
  • Top roles companies are hiring for include customer service, accounting/finance, technology and sales    

Turnover: Sixty-three percent of respondents stated they experienced more turnover this year over last year. When asked what their organization is doing to prevent turnover in 2022, the majority stated they are allowing staff to work remotely some or part of the time. 

Vaccination requirements: When asked if their company is hiring only vaccinated employees at this time, 42 percent stated no, 33 percent stated yes, and 10 percent stated not yet but it will be a requirement in 2022.     

Wage Growth: Sixty-one percent of respondents plan to raise wages in 2022, and the majority stated plans to increase wages by 3.1 – 5 percent.     

Top areas companies plan to increase spend in 2022 include:    

  • Employee salaries    
  • Training     
  • Hiring   

Benefits: Of respondents who stated they plan to add to their benefits packages in 2022, the majority stated they plan to add / increase in the following areas:             

  • 401(k) match
  • Flexible hours
  • Paid time off (PTO) 

Remote work options: When asked if their organizations are planning to allow staff to work remotely in 2022, the majority stated all or most staff can work remotely part of the week and in-office part of the week.
