This position has direct influence over injury prevention, incident response, safety performance metrics, and the ongoing improvement of health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems across the site.
Senior EHS Specialist Responsibilities:
- Implement and support site health and safety programs aligned with company values, operational goals, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with site leadership and HR to drive engagement, accountability, and ownership of health and safety practices at all levels.
- Conduct regular health and safety audits, inspections, and assessments (including racking and facility inspections); track findings and ensure corrective actions are completed and sustained.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for complex health and safety issues, including corrective action development and root cause analysis.
- Verify contractor safety compliance, training, and certifications; perform contractor safety audits as required.
- Maintain OSHA and occupational health and safety programs, documentation, and records to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
- Prepare, analyze, and present daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports, including trend analysis and KPI tracking.
- Design and deliver health and safety training for both hourly employees and leadership teams.
- Identify gaps and lead process improvements to reduce risk and improve overall safety performance.
- Support incident investigations, injury prevention initiatives, and emergency response efforts.
- Collaborate with HR and site leadership to support employee retention and engagement through strong safety practices.
- Provide on-call support outside normal working hours for serious incidents or emergencies as required.
Senior EHS Specialist Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced safety certification such as CSP, ASP, or equivalent (required or actively in progress).
- 5–7+ years of progressive health and safety experience in an industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, or operational environment.
- Experience working within ISO-based management systems preferred.
