LaSalle Network has partnered with a Chicago based Non For Profit organization with an office located in the 60651 area. 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day financial operations of our nonprofit organization. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate accounting, compliance with grant and contract requirements, and strong internal controls across multiple funding sources.

Budget for this role is up to a base of $71,0000 with a 5x a week in office cadence. A comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical / dental / vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee accounts payable functions, including invoice processing, expense coding, approval workflows, vendor record maintenance, and weekly check/EFT runs.

  • Manage cash receipts by preparing deposits, recording daily revenue, and reconciling incoming funds to the appropriate funding sources.

  • Prepare and post recurring and one-time journal entries to the general ledger.

  • Assist with accounts receivable activities such as billing funders, tracking receivables, following up on payments, and resolving discrepancies.

Grant & Contract Financial Support

  • Maintain comprehensive grant and contract records, including award values, funding terms, reporting timelines, compliance requirements, and key contacts.

  • Assist with monthly grant vouchering and reimbursement submissions by compiling payroll allocations, expense documentation, and funder-required forms.

  • Organize and maintain grant documentation (both electronic and physical) in compliance with requirements from IDHS, CDPH, ICJIA, HUD, and other funding agencies.

Month-End Close & Reconciliations

  • Record and reconcile activity for bank accounts, credit cards, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts.

  • Support month-end close by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and variance explanations.

  • Ensure financial records are well-organized and audit-ready to support the annual audit process.

Internal Controls & Administrative Support

  • Provide support with vendor onboarding, W-9 collection, 1099 tracking, and contract documentation.

  • Adhere to established fiscal policies, procedures, and internal control standards.

  • Participate in special projects and provide general financial support as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Experience in nonprofit and/or grant-funded accounting strongly preferred

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel
