Production Manager – NDT

This is a leadership opportunity for an experienced non-destructive testing professional who wants to own both the technical direction and the people side of aerospace inspection operations. You will lead a critical team responsible for ensuring the integrity, safety, and reliability of precision components used in aircraft, space, and defense applications.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
Leading People & Safety
  • Create and sustain a culture where safety, accountability, and quality come first
  • Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing inspection team through coaching, training, and clear expectations
  • Promote cross-training, inclusion, and collaboration across the group
  • Serve as a visible leader on the production floor and in customer interactions
Quality, Delivery & Performance
  • Ensure inspection operations consistently meet customer requirements and delivery commitments
  • Monitor performance trends, identify gaps, and deploy corrective actions
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, reliability, and consistency
  • Support customer and internal audits, providing technical leadership and follow-up
Technical & Operational Leadership
  • Establish and approve inspection techniques, methods, and procedures
  • Interpret engineering requirements, customer specifications, and industry standards
  • Review and approve inspection documentation, certifications, and work instructions
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance when complex issues arise
Financial & Process Accountability
  • Manage labor, materials, and equipment utilization to meet profitability goals
  • Contribute to departmental budgeting and identify opportunities for cost improvement
  • Prepare justification for capital equipment investments
  • Partner with purchasing to ensure proper material availability and rotation

What We’re Looking For
Required Experience & Credentials
  • Proven experience in aerospace inspection or precision manufacturing environments
  • Level Three certification in non-destructive testing
  • Hands-on expertise in at least two of the following inspection methods:
    • Fluorescent penetrant inspection
    • Magnetic particle inspection
    • Radiographic inspection
  • Strong background leading direct labor teams in manufacturing or job shop settings
Preferred / Transferable Backgrounds
  • Level Two certification with demonstrated leadership and management capability
  • Prior military experience with aerospace or aviation inspection responsibilities

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary $120,000 – $140,000
  • Annual performance bonus 15% target bonus
