The Loan Processor works closely with internal teams, applicants, and external partners to deliver a seamless borrower experience. Familiarity with Loan Origination Systems such as GDS and Loan Management Systems like NLS (Nortridge) is strongly preferred.
Loan Processor Primary Responsibilities:
- Review incoming loan applications to confirm completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation.
- Enter, manage, and track applications using a Loan Origination System (LOS), monitoring status throughout the lifecycle.
- Process loan files in alignment with established procedures, credit standards, and regulatory expectations.
- Analyze credit profiles and risk indicators to determine borrower eligibility in accordance with underwriting criteria.
- Leverage Loan Management Systems (e.g., NLS/Nortridge) to evaluate payment histories and maintain accurate account records.
- Review and validate collateral documentation, when applicable, ensuring proper valuation and compliance.
- Work directly with applicants, internal teams, and third-party vendors to obtain missing or additional information.
- Provide clear and timely updates to loan officers, managers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, including consumer protection and fair lending requirements.
- Follow internal credit and risk management policies at all times.
- Identify opportunities to enhance underwriting and processing efficiency and accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in loan underwriting or processing within consumer lending or a comparable financial environment.
- Background working with subprime, near-prime, or prime credit portfolios strongly preferred.
- Experience with consumer finance lenders such as OppLoans, CreditNinja, Lendmark, or OneMain Financial is a plus.
- Practical experience with Loan Origination Systems, ideally GDS.
- Working knowledge of Loan Management Systems such as NLS (Nortridge) or similar tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Solid understanding of credit evaluation, underwriting principles, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
This position is based full time in Summit, IL. The pay for this position is between $70,000-80,000 annually with a discretionary bonus and benefits available including health, dental, and vision.
