Position Overview

The Electrical Controls Engineer plays a key role in the design, development, and implementation of electrical, pneumatic, and software systems for automated equipment. This role offers hands-on involvement across the full project lifecycle and close collaboration with mechanical, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver high-quality, reliable automation solutions. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical, pneumatic, and control systems for automated assembly and test equipment, ensuring alignment with functional specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.

  • Create electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, bills of material, PLC programs, and HMI applications, validating designs through simulation and testing.

  • Develop clear, robust automation solutions that meet customer requirements and internal engineering standards.

  • Produce complete technical documentation to support internal teams, manufacturing, and external stakeholders.

  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve technical challenges and improve system performance.

  • Identify opportunities to improve tools, software, design standards, and engineering processes to reduce errors and increase efficiency.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on automation experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in Electrical Controls Engineering within an industrial or automation-focused environment.

  • Proficiency with PLC and HMI development, including Rockwell platforms (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio) and familiarity with comparable systems (Siemens TIA Portal, Step7/WinCC, Omron, Automation Direct).

  • Experience configuring, programming, and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, sensors, VFDs, servo/stepper drives, motor control circuits, and power distribution systems (up to 600 VAC).

  • Strong AutoCAD skills for electrical schematics and one-line diagrams; AutoCAD Electrical experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of NFPA, NEC, and industrial electrical standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D solid models.
