Are you a passionate, goal-driven sales professional with a knack for growing premium food brands? A world-class, farmer-owned cooperative is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the expansion of our rapidly growing grass-fed butter and cheese portfolio across the Eastern United States.
In this role, you will manage existing supermarket and natural channel relationships while aggressively pursuing new authorizations to increase market share. If you have a “start-up” attitude and a proven track record in perishable foods, we want to hear from you.
Business Development Manager Responsibilities:
- Drive Growth: Manage and expand business within Eastern U.S. supermarkets, natural channels, and regional distributors.
- Relationship Management: Support key accounts such as Wakefern, The Fresh Market, Lowes Foods, UNFI East, and KeHE East.
- Strategic Execution: Collaborate with brokers and category managers to secure new item authorizations and placements.
- Data-Driven Planning: Customize presentations using syndicated data (Circana, SPINS, Nielsen) and manage trade promotions via internal systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Marketing, Finance, and S&OP teams to optimize retailer activities and meet demand forecasting.
- Representation: Deliver business reviews and represent the brand at national and customer tradeshows.
Business Development Manager Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of success growing perishable foods within retail channels.
- Regional Expertise: A strong track record working with key retailers, distributors (UNFI, KeHE), and wholesalers in the Eastern U.S..
- Sector Knowledge: Experience selling butter and dairy/deli cheese is highly beneficial.
- Trade Management: Proven ability to develop and manage promotional trade plans to achieve ROI and volume targets.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with Trade Promotions Management software.
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
Other Details:
Compensation: $150k-$160k base salary + bonus

Location: Remote but must be East Coast based
Travel: Requires up to 40% travel, including occasional weekends for tradeshows.
