LaSalle has partnered with a global wellness and consumer goods organization with a North American HQ in Schaumburg, IL to identify their next Assistant Controller.

 

This is a strategic, hands-on role supporting the Corporate Controller in driving financial excellence across the organization. This individual will oversee critical accounting functions, lead month-end close process, and play a key role in a D365 ERP implementation while managing regional consolidations across North America. 

 

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with exceptional leadership skills, thriving in a dynamic environment while building high-performing teams and driving process improvements.

 

This role follows a 3x a week in office schedule in Schaumburg, IL and is budgeted up to a base salary of $155,000 with additional bonus eligibility. A comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical / dental / vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Direct daily general ledger operations and maintain accuracy across all accounting records
  • Lead the monthly and quarterly close cycle, including journal entry preparation, inter-company transactions, and consolidation of five entities
  • Conduct variance analysis and develop strategies to enhance close efficiency and precision
  • Manage fixed asset accounting in partnership with Production and Costing teams, ensuring proper capitalization tracking and asset reconciliation in D365
  • Strengthen internal controls and maintain SOX-compliant documentation and procedures
  • Produce consolidated trial balances for audited financial statement preparation
  • Partner with FP&A on forecasting initiatives and provide analytical support to Finance leadership

 

Cash & Treasury Operations

  • Track daily cash positions and support liquidity planning across the organization
  • Develop cash flow projections on weekly, monthly, and quarterly timeframes
  • Reconcile bank transactions, including wire transfers and inter-company movements
  • Maintain banking relationships and manage signatory documentation

ERP Systems & Process Excellence

  • Serve as the primary accounting liaison for our D365 ERP implementation, working closely with implementation partners and project management
  • Drive system optimization initiatives to improve efficiency, automation, and scalability
  • Ensure seamless integration and data accuracy across payroll, equity, and ERP platforms
  • Lead continuous improvement projects across accounting and finance functions

 

External Reporting & Compliance

  • Manage external audit processes across all entities, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors
  • Coordinate tax compliance activities including property, sales, and use tax across multiple jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors on tax provisions and filing requirements
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS standards and company accounting policies

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Develop and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of excellence and professional growth
  • Collaborate with HR and Payroll on routine entries and balance sheet reconciliations for payroll-related accounts
  • Support ad-hoc financial projects and business process implementations
  • Present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders across the organization

 

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • 2+ years in corporate accounting or assistant controller capacity strongly preferred
  • 4+ years managing or supervising accounting teams

Certifications & Background

  • CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
  • Big-4 or top-tier public accounting firm experience highly desired
  • Familiarity with IFRS guidance preferred

Technical Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) very strongly preferred
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, complex formulas, financial reconciliations)
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems and financial reporting platforms
