Our client’s ongoing expansion has created an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Manager to join their finance team and play a key role in overseeing financial operations and supporting strategic growth in the commercial services industry.
This role is primarily in-office (with hybrid flexibility) in downtown Chicago, IL, and is budgeted up to a base of $115,000 (depending on experience). A comprehensive benefits package is offered, including health, dental, vision, and a 401k match.
As an Accounting Manager, you will lead accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, manage a small team, and provide critical insights to support decision-making in a fast-paced commercial services environment. This position is ideal for a mid-level accounting professional with strong technical skills who is eager to advance their career while contributing to a dynamic organization serving diverse commercial clients.

Accounting Manager Responsibilities
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across departments and service lines
- Build and maintain financial models to evaluate performance, trends, and profitability
- Manage and develop a team of accountants and support staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback
- Perform detailed account reconciliations, ensure compliance with GAAP, and support internal/external audits
- Partner with operations, sales, and leadership teams to deliver actionable financial insights and drive cost efficiencies
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), identify opportunities for margin improvement, and support pricing and service delivery strategies
- Handle ad-hoc analysis, special projects, and process improvements as needed
Accounting Manager Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred but not required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis
- Advanced Excel skills required; experience with financial modeling and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar) strongly preferred
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail abilities
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor team members and collaborate cross-functionally
- Interest in the commercial services industry (e.g., facility management, business support services, or professional services) is a plus but not required
