About the Opportunity
A leading academic institution in Evanston is seeking an AV Support Specialist to support classroom technology and end-user IT needs in a highly visible, fast-paced environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring audiovisual systems operate seamlessly during live classroom sessions while providing technical support to faculty, staff, and students.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform daily checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting of classroom audiovisual systems, including cameras, microphones, displays, and presentation technologies

Provide real-time support for AV issues during live classroom sessions and events

Support and troubleshoot web conferencing platforms such as Zoom and WebEx
-
Respond to IT service desk requests, including printer support, user access issues, and operating system troubleshooting
-
Support both Windows 11 and macOS environments
-
Assist with basic network connectivity troubleshooting (TCP/IP)
-
Partner with AV engineering and IT teams on system improvements and maintenance initiatives

Participate in technology upgrades, preventative maintenance, and special projects during scheduled downtime
Required Qualifications:
-
1+ years of experience supporting audiovisual (AV) technology in a professional environment
-
Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS operating systems
-
Experience supporting video conferencing platforms such as Zoom or WebEx
-
Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP
-
Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
-
Ability to remain calm and responsive in a high-visibility support environment
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with AV over IP technologies

Prior classroom, higher education, or event technology support experience
-
Experience working within a structured IT support or ticketing environment
Work Environment:

Fully onsite within a classroom and learning environment

Combination of proactive system maintenance and reactive end-user support

High level of interaction with faculty, staff, and students

Compensation: $20–23 per hour
