LaSalle Network is partnering with a large, growth-focused healthcare services organization to identify a Director, State & Local Tax (SALT) for a newly elevated leadership opportunity within its tax function.

This is a standout opportunity for an experienced tax leader who wants to step into a highly visible role with meaningful strategic influence. Reporting directly to the VP of Tax, this individual will serve as a key leader on the tax team, overseeing complex multi-state tax matters across a sophisticated national organization with significant partnership activity, continued expansion, and strong executive exposure

The ideal candidate will bring deep SALT expertise, public company experience, and the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What makes this opportunity compelling:

This role offers the chance to join a modern, technology-forward tax organization that is investing in process improvement, analytics, and infrastructure. The Director of SALT will play a critical role in shaping tax strategy, supporting business growth, and helping evaluate opportunities to further strengthen internal tax operations.

Key Details:
Work Model:
This is a 100% remote role that allows candidates to sit anywhere in the US.
Compensation: This role has a budget of $180,000-$200,000 base salary with eligibility to earn an additional 25% annual bonus
Benefits: Comprehensive healthcare benefits (medical, dental, vision, EAP), competitive PTO, 401(k) match.

Key responsibilities:
The Director of SALT will lead state and local tax matters across a large multi-state footprint, including oversight of compliance, income tax provision support, financial reporting, audit management, forecasting, and strategic tax planning. This person will partner closely with finance, accounting, legal, and operational leadership to assess tax implications tied to business initiatives, expansion activity, and joint venture structures.

This role will also be instrumental in driving process improvements, supporting technology optimization efforts, mentoring talent within the tax function, and contributing to the evaluation of select compliance activities that may transition in-house over time.

Scope of the role:
This is a complex environment with substantial scale, including:

  • Operations across 30+ states
  • A large partnership footprint
  • High-volume K-1 activity
  • Multiple tax reporting cycles each year
  • Ongoing expansion and joint venture growth

Preferred background:

CPA is preferred, not required.

Experience working in complex multi-entity environments is strongly preferred, particularly within healthcare or other large-scale service-based organizations. Exposure to partnership structures and high-volume K-1 environments will be highly valued. Familiarity with Texas franchise tax and California tax matters is also strongly preferred.
