Position Overview
The Senior Process Engineer will play a critical role in driving continuous improvement, process optimization, and operational excellence across multiple paper converting operations. This role will lead process improvements within converting environments, with a strong preference for experience in paper cup converting or similar high-speed paper converting processes.
This position requires approximately 40% travel to support manufacturing sites, drive standardization, and lead hands-on improvement initiatives on the production floor.
Key Responsibilities

Lead continuous improvement initiatives across converting operations, focused on safety, quality, efficiency, yield, and cost reduction.

Travel regularly to manufacturing sites (~40%) to support process optimization, troubleshooting, and implementation of improvement initiatives.

Analyze current manufacturing processes, identify gaps, and implement sustainable improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause methodologies.

Optimize paper converting and paper cup forming processes, including equipment performance, tooling, materials, and process parameters.

Serve as a technical leader on the production floor, providing hands-on support for process stability, problem solving, and change management.

Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain to drive cross-functional improvement initiatives.

Develop and standardize work instructions, SOPs, process controls, and best practices across converting lines and facilities.

Lead or support capital projects related to converting equipment upgrades, new installations, or process redesigns.

Utilize data and KPIs to track performance, identify trends, and measure the effectiveness of improvement initiatives.

Support operator training and ensure knowledge transfer to drive consistency and long-term sustainability.

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards at all supported locations.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical, or related discipline).

7+ years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

Hands-on converting experience required, ideally in paper cup converting or high-speed paper converting operations.

Demonstrated success leading continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites or production lines.

Strong background in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and structured problem-solving methodologies.

Ability to travel up to 40% and work effectively across multiple locations.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in paper packaging, foodservice packaging, or consumer products manufacturing.

Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

Experience supporting multi-site operations or enterprise-wide process standardization.

Capital project and equipment commissioning experience.
