Interning at LaSalle: The Real Scoop

Hi, I’m Brittany Morrow, LaSalle Network’s newest public relations intern! In May of 2015, I will graduate from Columbia College Chicago with a BA in Public Relations. I originally started with LaSalle Network as an Office Assistant, and then expressed interest in the public relations internship opportunity. It was important to me to choose an internship that helped me grow in my professional career. Here are a few ways I know LaSalle will help me do this:

  1. Real Work - LaSalle Network gives me the opportunity to practice what I’ve been learning in class. I always have a daily detailed schedule, which never include coffee runs. I have tasks that improve and challenge my work ethic, I write press releases, craft pitch ideas and update the website and of course, blog!

  2. Contribution - I am constantly encouraged to express my opinion and provide input during meetings. Suggestions I make are implemented and the work I produce is used to propel the company further.

  3. Access to Leadership - From daily meetings with the Marketing Manager to the CEO personally handing me tickets to a Chicago Cubs game, I have access to some of the most successful people in the company. I also have the opportunity to pick their brains on skills or accomplishments that they achieved. The tips and advice I receive in the office are vital references I can use for my future career.

As an intern here I will periodically document my experience and takeaways I gain along the way. Feel free to share how your internship benefits your professional career below!
