Happy 1st Rebirthday, Murphy Dorn!

MurphyHow old are you at LaSalle?
Officially 1 year old on September 29th!!

What has been your professional progression at LaSalle?
I came in as a Business Development Manager, and I originally reported to our Chief Revenue Officer, Maureen Hoersten. Within the first few weeks, I was pulled into a room with her and one of our Managing Directors of Sales, John - I was terrified I was getting let go! Instead they told me John would officially be my manager out in Oak Brook!

What is your first memory of LaSalle, and how did it make you feel?
My first memory of LaSalle was a Rebirthday on my third day at LaSalle. People started clapping and I had absolutely no idea what was going on, but I wouldn't trade that moment for anything. Once the speeches began, it all made sense. What an incredible thing to witness during my first week: hugs and tears, hearing how my coworkers felt about LaSalle and about their experience so far.

Chills spread through my body during the speeches and I knew I was in the right place. I remember taking the train home and calling my mom to tell her about this "Rebirthday celebration" and how I couldn't wait for mine!

What is your favorite thing about working at LaSalle?
LaSalle is home and my coworkers are my family. It doesn't matter the hour of the day or the day of the week, I genuinely want to be here because I know I will always belong. I want to be here to work my ass off. I want to be here to be with my friends. I want to be here to prove myself.

What does LaSalle mean to you?
It's somewhere I am not afraid to be myself. I can be a little strange sometimes, and there is no judgment; there is no one telling me to be someone I am not. I couldn't ask for anything more.

What has been your proudest moment at LaSalle?
My proudest moment was when a prospect became a client and since then has given us even more opportunity. The relationships I have developed with the project managers on the account has been really special to me because there is so much attention needed. These roles are not easy, and I truly appreciate all the hard work everyone is putting in.

What do you hope to conquer in the next 365 days?
A year from now I want to be billing two large companies I've had my sights set on. HUGE prospects of mine with HUGE potential!

What does celebrating a Rebirthday mean to you?
I hope it is the first of many, many Rebirthdays! I look at how far I have come in a year and am so excited for the next year and the years to follow. I know where I am now and where I want to be... now is the time to set the tone for my career.

What has been the most unexpected thing about LaSalle?
How excited I am to go to work every day. Never in a million years did I think I would LOVE my job or WANT to go in on the weekends, or stay until 8:30 PM on a Friday night, but I do!

What's your spirit animal?
I would compare myself to a koala bear. They can be super sweet and so cute...but they definitely know what they want and what it takes to get it. They can be aggressive...but they mean well!

Anything else you want to share?
I really want to say a HUGE thank you to my manager, my mentor, my big brother, John. I don't have any clue where I would be without you guiding me, challenging me, and supporting me every step of the way.
