Happy 1st Rebirthday, Kelly and Holly!

Kelly Sweeney 1st Rebirthday - LaSalle NetworkHolly Van Baber 1st Rebirthday - LaSalle Network

How old are you at LaSalle?

Kelly: I’m 28 in people years, but only 1 in LaSallian years! I love celebrating such a young age again.

Holly: I am one!

What has been your professional progression at LaSalle?

K: I’ve been a Project Manager on the Marketing team.

H: I have been a Project Manager in Accounting & Finance.

What is your first memory of LaSalle?

K: I remember interviewing with the Marketing Team Manager, Allison Penning, at 7:00 p.m. at night. She stayed late to talk to me and told me it wasn’t an odd time at all. I was blown away by her leadership and her vision for the Marketing team she had built from scratch.

I wanted to be part of the team because of their growth goals and LaSalle’s culture and reputation. However, Allison was a huge driver in making me want to be here – from taking my late night phone calls to interviewing me at off hours, because of her, I knew LaSalle wouldn’t just be a job.

Holly 1st Rebirthday SignWhat is your favorite thing about working at LaSalle?

H: I'm not sure I can put everything into one answer, but I would say the people I work with, my team. They are always challenging and motivating me to be the best I can be.  I love being challenged daily. I feel I’ve grown more professionally this past year than ever before.

What does LaSalle mean to you?

K: LaSalle is an entrepreneurial, hardworking, and a no-excuses work environment. We get creative to get our work done.

H: To me, LaSalle is opportunity: giving me the opportunity to grow professionally and personally. Also, having the opportunity to be exposed to new ideas, and being able to choose the process that works best for me every day.

What has been your proudest moment at LaSalle?

H: When my first temporary employee converted to a permanent role. She let me know how happy she was and how grateful she felt to have worked with LaSalle Network and with me… it was very gratifying and it reminded me that LaSalle Network changes lives on a daily basis. It’s such a great thing to have the opportunity to be a part of.

What do you hope to conquer in the next 365 days?

H: I hope to learn and grow over the next year, ideally doubling the headcount I oversee and helping my team reach our 2015/2016 goals.

What does celebrating a rebirthday mean to you?

K: Being only one means I’m a very young LaSallian, so my hope is to make it to the toddler stage and grow a lot more this year so I can start walking more on my own!

H: It means being recognized for my accomplishments and gains in the past year. It also means welcoming the next year and ensuring I am set up to surpass my goals for 2016.

What has been the most unexpected thing about LaSalle?

H: That everyone's opinion matters. From training, to meetings, to committees, I feel that my and everyone’s opinion is not only heard but valued, and used to help make LaSalle better. I hadn’t experienced that in my two previous jobs, and it’s a difference that matters to me.

What's your spirit animal?

K: According to the test I took I am a Crow:

“As a Crow, you are analytical, adaptable, and exceedingly clever. You like solving problems, sharing a hearty laugh with friends, and most of all, enjoying a good meal. Your inquisitive, philosophical nature leads you to constantly question authority and the status quo, sometimes just for the sake of asking, ‘Why?’”

H: A lioness. I think it is important to take initiative and to find innovative ways to complete a task, much like the lioness that will go out and hunt for their pride versus waiting for their prospective meal to come to them.

Anything else you want to share?

K: From the moment I walked in to LaSalle I felt at home with my coworkers, but the moment I really fell in love with my job was when I was able to find the right candidates for my clients. What I love about LaSalle is the shared team excitement when closing a deal and the recognition of our hard work and success.

H: I couldn't be happier to celebrate one year at LaSalle Network. I am thankful for the opportunity and look forward to many more re-birthdays to come!
