Job Description

Lasalle Network has partnered with a Chicago based retirement system and they are looking to hire a Technical Writer. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field. This person will conduct user feedback sessions related to HTML and CSS documentation along with other daily operations. 


Technical Writer Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including user manuals, API documentation and guides, with a focus on HTML and CSS topics 

  • Collaborate closely with software developers, UX/UI designers and product managers to gather information and translate technical concepts into user-friendly documentation 

  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of HTML and CSS to create documentation that effectively guides users in implementing and customizing the products 

  • Provide clear examples and code snippets to assist developers in understanding and implementing software features 

  • Regularly update and enhance existing documentation to reflect changes in product features, releases and industry best practices 

  • Ensure documentation aligns with HTML and CSS standards and follows established style guides 

  • Conduct user feedback sessions specifically related to HTML and CSS documentation 

  • Collaborate with customer support teams to address user queries related to HTML and CSS integration 

  • Conduct rigorous reviews of documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency 

  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to align documentation with product specifications 

Technical Writer Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field 

  • Proven experience as a technical writer with a strong focus on HTML and CSS documentation 

  • Familiarity with web development technologies and practices 

  • Proficient in HTML and CSS with the ability to create and explain code examples effectively 

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, ensuring technical concepts are communicated clearly to various audiences 

  • Experience using documentation tools and platforms (e.g., Markdown, Confluence) 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams 

  • Comfortable seeking input and feedback from subject matter experts in HTML and CSS 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities 

  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting
