Job Description
Our client, a family-owned machinery manufacturer is looking to hire a Staff Accountant in their downtown Chicago office. This individual will work closely with the Controller and Executive team on a variety of accounting operations, perform financial reporting and assist with the budgeting and planning for the organization to help support executive decision-making.As the company expands, they are looking to grow the accounting department. This individual will have the opportunity to grow into management in the next few years. The Staff Accountant opening is budgeted for a $70,000-$90,000 annual base salary, with guaranteed merit increases/raises each year.
Staff Accountant Responsibilities:
- Perform an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close
- Prepare journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations in adherence to GAAP
- Adhere to company policy in the implementation and monitoring of proper internal controls
- Analyze the company’s financial performance in comparison to forecasted amounts and prior periods; communicate findings effectively to provide a better understanding of the business
- Support both internal and external financial audits
- Perform analytical, accounting and/or operational support assignments as directed
- Support operations and finance leaders in the analysis as needed
Staff Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- 1+ years of public accounting and/or industry accounting
- Excellent communication, organization, analytical and problem-solving skills
