Senior Staff Tax Accountant Responsibilities:
- Review and process tax documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations
- Process tax credits for accounts or invoices eligible for exemptions. Evaluate and verify exemption certificates to determine allowable exemptions and finalize invoice coding
- Review short-paid invoices, making necessary corrections and adjustments. Ensure proper application of taxes and exemptions for final invoice approval
- Update and maintain customer account tax statuses to ensure proper tax application and compliance
- Respond to various tax-related inquiries from customers and internal teams, providing accurate and timely information
- Assist with preparing business license applications and property tax submissions, ensuring all required documentation is submitted on time
- Gather and organize necessary documentation for audits, supporting both internal and external audit processes
- Assist with seasonal projects and other tasks as assigned by the department, ensuring smooth operations during busy periods
Senior Staff Tax Accountant Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in a tax support, accounting or finance role, preferably with a focus on tax-related matters
- Familiarity with tax credits, exemptions, short-paid invoices and exemption certificates. Knowledge of tax compliance regulations is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially when reviewing tax documents and invoices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with both internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to identify and resolve tax-related issues in a timely and efficient manner
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Experience with tax software or ERP systems is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
