Job Description
Our client is a personal consumer loan company serving Chicago area. They are based on the belief that customers' needs are of the utmost importance, and the entire team is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of business is from repeat customers and referrals. They are seeking a Security Engineer to join their team.

Security Engineer Responsibilities: 
  • Assist with the development, implementation and improvement of comprehensive cybersecurity processes, policies and procedures to enhance the organization's security posture, and align with evolving cyber threats in AWS cloud and on-prem environments
  • Perform security assessments, working closely with DevOps and Development teams on identifying security and privacy issues in AWS and finding solutions to provide required functionality securely
  • Work closely with compliance, security and legal teams to maintain security requirements in the Cloud for regulatory/framework bodies such as SOC2, SOX, CIS Benchmarks and NIST standards
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of cybersecurity processes and provide regular reports to management and regulatory bodies
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement cybersecurity tools, technologies and services to enhance the organization's security capabilities in the Cloud and on-prem environments
  • Work with the PM and act as a technical lead on cybersecurity projects ensuring they meet the desired objectives; collaborate with partners to define project requirements and manage resources effectively
  • Embrace changing requirements and be willing/able to refocus priorities rapidly
  • Be willing to constantly learn and apply what you’ve learned to keep up with rapidly changing tools and technologies and to ask for help when needed
  • Work with a variety of technical and non-technical teams
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
 
Security Engineer Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on process development, industry regulatory support and technical project implementation
  • Ability to work with PM to lead and manage complex cybersecurity projects, including planning, execution, resource management and successful delivery
  • Proficiency in cybersecurity tools, technologies, standard methodologies, cloud security, network security and secure software development processes
  • Experience in developing and implementing cybersecurity processes, procedures and governance structures
  • Knowledge of application security principles
  • Experience with risk assessment and analysis methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex security challenges and devise effective solutions
  • Superb communication and presentation skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical partners
  • Implementation experience with security tools like SIEMs, SecurityHub or Security Center, compliance tools, DLP, MDM, CSPM, Nessus, Tenable, CSPM, third-party monitoring, email security, AWS Control Tower
  • Proficient in a scripting language and tools (Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl, PowerShell, Terraform, Cloudformation AWS/Azure CLI, etc.) and the ability to use such languages to extract audit and forensic data from logs and other data sources
  • Security certification (i.e., CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC, CEH, Security+, AWS Certified Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer)
