Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Security Analyst to join our client’s team in Chicago. The Security Analyst will play a pivotal role in strengthening our clients' security posture by focusing on vulnerability management, incident response, compliance, penetration testing and phishing prevention. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, hands-on experience in security operations and a passion for staying ahead of emerging threats.

Security Analyst Responsibilities:
  • Perform regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on systems, applications and networks
  • Analyze vulnerability scan results, prioritize vulnerabilities and collaborate with relevant teams to ensure timely remediation
  • Assist in developing and maintaining vulnerability management processes and procedures
  • Participate in incident response activities, including detection, analysis, containment, eradication and recovery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate security incidents, document findings and implement corrective actions
  • Contribute to incident response plan enhancements and tabletop exercises
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) through regular audits and assessments
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of compliance documentation and reports
  • Conduct thorough penetration tests on internal and external systems to identify vulnerabilities and potential entry points
  • Document and communicate findings, providing actionable recommendations to improve security posture
  • Collaborate with development and IT teams to address identified vulnerabilities
  • Develop and execute phishing simulation campaigns to assess user awareness and susceptibility
  • Analyze results of simulations to identify trends, areas for improvement and potential training needs
  • Assist in designing and delivering security awareness training programs for employees

Security Analyst Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, best practices and emerging threats
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys) and penetration testing methodologies
  • Familiarity with incident response procedures, including identification, containment, eradication and recovery
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulations relevant to the industry
  • Hands-on experience with phishing simulation tools and security awareness programs
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or related certifications are a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Must be local to the Chicago area or willing to relocate
