The Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with quality and food safety standards by conducting audits, managing non-conformities, overseeing employee training, and supporting regulatory compliance. This role will play a critical part in maintaining and improving the company’s quality systems while working cross-functionally with production and quality teams to uphold best practices in food safety and regulatory compliance.
Quality Assurance Specialist Responsibilities
- Perform, track, and monitor audits, including GMP, Glass and Brittle Plastic, and other proactive internal audits
- Maintain, review, and close non-conformities to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
- Conduct new hire training for GMP, HACCP, allergen control, and food defense programs
- Oversee document control and annual competency training for all facility employees
- Participate in facility quality audits, ensuring full compliance with internal and external standards
- Conduct and monitor finished goods gluten-free testing, heavy metal testing, and metal-detectable bandage/earplug testing
- Track and review Master Sanitation Schedule performance and report on plant compliance
- Assist in HACCP program management and serve as a backup for the HACCP certified team leader
- Ensure proper communication of food safety and quality issues with Production Supervisors and Technicians
- Stay up to date on food safety laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain full compliance
Quality Assurance Specialist Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Food Science, Quality Management, or a related field
- Experience with GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations in a manufacturing environment
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to conduct audits and track compliance
- Proficiency in document control and regulatory compliance tracking
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with production teams to address quality issues
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in quality testing such as gluten-free, heavy metal, and metal-detectable bandage/earplug testing is a plus
