We are working with a manufacturing facility that is growing rapidly. Due to that growth, we are helping them elevate their procurement team by adding additional team members. This Purchasing Specialist plays a key role within the supply chain team by ensuring the timely procurement of raw materials required to support the production schedule and company forecasts. This role collaborates across departments to maintain inventory accuracy, manage vendor relationships, and support the development and functionality of ERP/MRP systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and skilled in managing purchasing processes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

- Issue purchase orders for bulk and non-bulk chemical raw materials in alignment with production planning and forecast requirements.
- Validate purchase orders against specifications, pricing, and approved vendor lists; obtain necessary internal approvals.
- Track and verify incoming shipments to ensure alignment with purchase orders; support resolution of delivery discrepancies in collaboration with operations.
- Assist Accounts Payable by providing timely and accurate documentation to facilitate invoice processing.
- Maintain up-to-date pricing and vendor data within the ERP/MRP system; support contract management and supplier documentation.
- Collect and analyze procurement and planning data to support operational decisions and maintain inventory levels.
- Communicate proactively across the supply chain to share updates on material availability, shipping status, and any disruptions to raw material supply.
- Provide support for import/export documentation and compliance in coordination with the General Manager of Supply Chain.
- Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of enterprise systems including ERP (e.g., NAV), Warehouse Management System (WMS), and mobile scanning devices.
- Prepare reports and summaries as needed for planning, performance tracking, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a cross-functional resource, supporting purchasing and planning responsibilities during absences or high-demand periods.
- Participate in supplier audits and site visits as needed to ensure quality and compliance.
- Promote a culture of safety by adhering to internal and regulatory guidelines and participating in safety initiatives.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, inventory control, and basic accounting/finance principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems, preferably NAV or similar platforms.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to draft reports, standard procedures, and correspondence.
- Capable of collaborating across functional teams, including production, finance, and quality.
- Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze data to drive decision-making.
- Comfortable navigating complex or variable scenarios with limited standard procedures.
- Proficient with basic math, ratios, percentages, and statistical analysis.
- Able to work with both metric and U.S. standard units of measure.
