Our client is a highly acquisitive organization specializing in the food manufacturing and distribution space. With a rapidly expanding footprint, they provide quality products to their customers while maintaining a focus on innovation and growth. They are seeking an experienced Plant Controller to join their team and support a $150M plant on the Southwest side of Chicago.
As the Plant Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and success of the plant operations. Reporting directly to the CFO of the parent company, you will oversee a team of four direct reports and collaborate closely with various cross-functional teams such as sales and operations. This role requires a hands-on manager who is willing to actively participate in full month-end closing functions, provide valuable insights on business performance and ensure the implementation and maintenance of proper controls within the plant. The position is budgeted for $100,000-115,000 base salary.
Plant Controller Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the month-end close process, including preparation and review of financial statements, variance analysis and reconciliation of accounts
Provide strategic financial analysis and insights to support decision-making and drive business performance improvements
Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Oversee inventory management processes, including monitoring inventory levels, conducting regular audits and optimizing inventory control procedures
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial objectives with operational goals and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork and professional growth
Act as a liaison between the plant and corporate finance teams, facilitating communication and coordination of financial reporting and analysis
Plant Controller Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related field, CPA is a plus
5+ years of progressive accounting experience in the manufacturing, distribution, or product-based industry
2+ years of supervisory/management experience
Strong understanding of inventory management processes and the flow of inventory within a manufacturing environment
