Job Description

Our client is a thriving $150 million family-owned manufacturer seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to lead their payroll operations and contribute to their continued growth and success. This position sits in the metro Nashville area, in a hybrid in-office work model. 

Payroll Manager Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead all aspects of payroll processing, including bi-weekly payroll runs, garnishments, deductions, and incentive payouts. 

  • Ensure payroll accuracy and timeliness, adhering to strict deadlines and maintaining a high level of attention to detail. 

  • Manage and supervise a team of two Payroll Specialists, providing mentorship, guidance, and training to ensure their success. 

  • Implement new processes and technologies to streamline payroll reporting, improve efficiency, and reduce manual tasks. 

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable payroll laws and regulations, including federal, state, and local tax withholding requirements. 

  • Manage payroll taxes, including FICA, FUTA, SUTA, and state and local taxes. 

  • Conduct payroll audits and investigations to ensure accuracy and compliance. 

  • Prepare and present payroll reports to the management team and external stakeholders. 

  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and managers in a timely and professional manner. 

Payroll Manager Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in payroll, with a minimum of 2 years in a management capacity and a proven track record of success 

  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations. 

  • Proficient in payroll software and systems. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve payroll issues promptly and effectively. 

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with employees and management at all levels. 

  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of payroll specialists. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative, adaptability, and a collaborative approach.
