Packaging Operations/Maintenance Manager
We are partnered with a growing manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Packaging Operations Manager to oversee high-speed packaging production, drive process optimization, and ensure asset reliability across the facility. This leadership role will be responsible for managing daily packaging operations, leading a team focused on efficiency and product quality, and aligning maintenance activities to support uptime and operational continuity.
This opportunity was created due to recent growth and increased operational complexity. The role offers strong visibility to executive leadership both onsite and at the corporate level and is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, continuous improvement-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities
Packaging & Production Operations

Lead day-to-day operations of packaging lines, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are met.

Coordinate closely with maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and maintain line performance.

Oversee equipment setup, line changeovers, and troubleshooting to support product flow and minimize disruption.

Analyze line performance data to identify and resolve bottlenecks, quality issues, and material waste.
Equipment Reliability & Maintenance Coordination

Direct maintenance activities related to packaging equipment and partner with the maintenance team to ensure long-term asset care.

Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and ensure packaging-related work orders are prioritized and completed.

Support repair efforts on packaging-related equipment, including conveyors, sealers, case packers, and automated systems.
Process Improvement & Project Execution

Identify and implement packaging process improvements to increase throughput, reduce cost, and improve product consistency.

Collaborate with engineering and leadership to scope, plan, and execute capital projects related to packaging upgrades and automation.

Track project milestones, budgets, and vendor performance to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Compliance, Safety & Team Leadership

Ensure packaging operations comply with internal quality standards, food safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of packaging technicians and line leads with a focus on accountability and ownership.

Promote a strong safety culture through training, audits, and proactive risk identification.

Champion lean practices such as 5S, visual management, and standard work.
Qualifications

7+ years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role with a focus on packaging operations.

Strong knowledge of packaging machinery, automated systems, and production KPIs.

Experience coordinating with maintenance or reliability teams to support asset performance.

Background with food, beverage, consumer goods, or automotive packaging environments preferred.

Familiarity with ISO standards, GMPs, or other quality systems is a plus.

Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage projects, and communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
