Our client is seeking a Lead Reinsurance Accountant to join their U.S. headquarters in Chicago. In this role, the Lead Reinsurance Accountant will be instrumental in managing the financial reporting for their rapidly expanding global operations. The position will focus on regulatory compliance, specifically handling Yellow Book and Schedule F reporting, while driving efficiency in reinsurance accounting processes. Lead Reinsurance Accountant Responsibilities:
- Oversee and prepare reinsurance accounting reports, including Yellow Book and Schedule F filings
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for reinsurance operations
- Collaborate with global finance teams to support reinsurance financial reporting and analysis
- Lead the month-end close process for reinsurance transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Identify and implement process improvements for increased efficiency in reinsurance reporting
- Analyze and reconcile reinsurance accounts, premiums and claims
- Provide support for internal and external audits related to reinsurance activities
Lead Reinsurance Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 5+ years of reinsurance accounting experience, with a strong focus on Yellow Book or Schedule F reporting
- Proficiency in Excel with advanced skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment
- CPA or similar certification is a plus but not required
Lead Reinsurance Accountant Benefits:
